Ashley lights up the District

Christmas Light Switch On 2009

Despite the rain hundreds of people turned up at the Theatre District on Saturday 5th December to enjoy Milton Keynes City Orchestra, the fabulous choir Faith Dimensions, the many mascots who came out to entertain and of course ever popular Keith Emmett's fairground rides.

Throughout the event over £200 was raised through donations, a raffle and lucky dip and proceeds were given to Spinal Injuries Association and Ashley Hyde, a local boy who is fighting a rare cancer and who needs pioneering treament in America.

The ugly sisters from MK Theatre's Cinderella also braved the weather (in all their finery) to countdown to the switch on, but it was Ashley himself who stole the show and pressed the button which lit the District.  The lights were trully wonderful, especially the very special colour changing effect on the 25ft Christmas tree situated in the central area between Pizza Hut, Bella, Groove and Opus.
