Ashley Hyde Appeal

Ashley Hyde and Mascots at the Theatre District Christmas Light Switch On 2009

Ashley, the little boy who switched on our Christmas lights, is in need of your help.  He suffers from a rare cancer and even though was in remission, over Christmas (and just before his 7th birthday) during routine tests it was discovered that the disease had returned.

Neuroblastoma is an aggressive childhood cancer. The disease is caused by abnormal neuroblasts or nerve cells which are special cells present in babies and children that help create the adult nervous system.

Tumours originate from the sympathetic nervous system, which runs from the neck to the tailbone and can spread to other organs, and bones and(bone maorrow). If the cancer is diagnosed early, surgery and chemotherapy can be curative, but in 70% of cases the disease is not diagnosed until it has already widleywidely spread, unfortunately this was the situation with Ashleys case.

Ashley has already had countless chemotherapy sessions and is again undergoing treatment, but he desperately needs to get to America to have pioneering treatment to give him a fighting chance.  The trouble is the treatment costs start at £250,000, and currently they are a long way off that target.
